Music Theory Print E-mail

The Music Theory program is designed to give choristers the ability to read, understand, and interpret music in a way that enhances the chorister’s ability to be successful in rehearsal. All choristers (except for Figlie di Coro) are expected to pass the test for at least two levels of music theory every year.

Music theory assignments will be given each week. It is up to the individual chorister to complete the assignments. Tests for each theory level will be scheduled regularly throughout the season.

Supplemental music theory classes will be held for each theory level once per month at The Blake School from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Attendance is optional but strongly recommended. The theory schedule varies somewhat but generally adheres to the following schedule:

Levels A, B, and C                        First Wednesday of each month

Levels D, E, and F                         Second Wednesday of each month

Levels G, H, and I                         Third Wednesday of each month

Make-up for all levels              Fourth Wednesday of each month

The full schedule of supplemental theory classes is available online at info.girlchoir.org.
